Expert witness
Expert witness reports & advisory
Financial disputes often turn on how figures are interpreted. We provide independent forensic accounting expert reports and advisory support to help courts, tribunals and parties understand complex financial evidence. Work is available across the UK, Europe and North America in commercial, shareholder and personal financial disputes.
Why work with us
Melpomeni Kalliri is a Forensic Accountant with expert witness training completed as part of her Master of Forensic Accounting. Reports are prepared on the basis that the expert's duty is to the court or tribunal: opinions stay within her expertise, the facts and assumptions relied on are stated, and the range of reasonable views is acknowledged where it exists.
Expert reports
- Prepare independent written reports on financial questions such as loss, valuation of claimed amounts, the flow of funds or accounting treatment.
- Set out instructions, documents reviewed, assumptions and reasoning clearly, so that conclusions can be followed and tested.
Advisory support
- Act as a shadow or advisory expert, helping legal teams understand financial evidence and the other side's expert analysis.
- Identify the financial questions that matter early, and the documents needed to answer them.
Review of opposing evidence
- Review the other party's financial evidence and expert reports for errors, unsupported assumptions or gaps.
- Prepare questions for clarification and contribute to discussions between experts where required.
Dispute resolution
- Support mediation, arbitration and settlement discussions with clear, independent financial analysis.
- Explain technical accounting points in plain language for clients, legal teams and decision-makers.

Common questions
- How is an expert instructed?
- Usually through your legal advisers, who set out the questions for the expert. We first confirm there is no conflict of interest and that the questions fall within our expertise.
- Is the report independent?
- Yes. An expert's opinion must be objective and unbiased, whoever pays the fees. That independence is what gives the report its value.
